Conference: Living the Information Society 2.0, Oct. 1 & 2 September 20, 2009

PhilICTResearch, Inc. in partnership with UP-NCPAG and Ateneo-CORD would like to invite the community to the “Living the Information Society 2.0” conference on October 1 and 2, 2009 at the Ateneo Professional Schools, Rockwell campus.

The conference features research on the use and impact of information and communication technology in Philippine society. Papers to be presented include:

“New Media and the Death of Culture” (Raul Pertierra, Sociology and Anthropology Department – Ateneo de Manila University)

“Growing up Digital: Adolescent Social Interactions in the Internet” (Liane Alampay and Emy Liwag, Psychology Department – Ateneo de Manila University)

“Rice queries in 160 characters or less” (Irene Tanzo and Stoix Pascua, Philrice)

“Mobile Money for the Bottom of the Pyramid” (Erwin Alampay, NCPAG-University of the Philippines)

“ICT and scandal: ‘scandal!’ and the Philippine context” (Maria Mangahas, CSSP- University of the Philippines)

“Cybercampaigning for 2010” (Grace Mirandilla, NCPAG- University of the Philippines)

“Counseling migrant workers through the internet” (Regina Hechanova, Psychology Department – Ateneo de Manila University)

“The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Internet use in the Philippines” (Renee Ortega, Ateneo-CORD)

Early bird fee is Php3000 if paid on or before September 23, 2009. Walk-in fee is Php4000. Fees include meals, the program of the conference with CD. First 30 paying registrants also get a complementary copy of the book “Living the Information Society in Asia” (2009)(ISEAS). Limited scholarships and subsidies are also available for faculty members and students.
